Top Five White Paints

White Paint makes spaces feel bright, airy, warm and welcoming. It has been my go-to choice for the last 4 years and I think it is oddly intimidating. There are so many white paint choices out there. And this list is by no-means exhaustive, but it is the perfect place to get started with paint options that are real winners in my book.

When people think of white paint, I think they sometimes think sterile, medical, or cold. And while there are definitely white paints that exist in relation to those terms, these white paints below are warm, welcoming, bright, airy and cozy. They are the perfect canvas for the rest of the goods you have in your home (including you and your cute loved ones).

white paint is warm, welcoming, bright & airy

I’ve outlined my top 5 favorite white paints. This list tends to lean on the warmer and brighter scale, as that tends to be my go-to choices. This is a great place to start if you are dipping your toe into this pond and also consider these paint choices for trim work, cabinetry and millwork. Let’s take a closer look-

Simply White by Benjamin Moore

I used Benjamin Moore Simply White in our entire house. It is warm and bright and doesn’t appear yellow or overly off-white in low lighting. Our home faces east/west so half of our home is always shaded and half gets the perks of sunshine. I decided to use Simply White on our trim as well for a tone-on-tone look. I can’t say enough good things about this shade of white. It is my go-to recommendation for people who want a warm white, that’s not too warm, not too bright, definitely not cold or sterile. It your easy-going pal who supports every decision you make moving forward. *Note: Do not have this color mixed at Sherwin Williams. It comes out with a green tinge to it (trust me, I learned the hard way).

Alabster by Sherwin Williams

Alabaster is a white that is neither overly warm or stark. It is a perfect hue that compliments any space it’s in. Chris Loves Julia just used it all over their new home and it is absolutely stunning. This is now one of Sherwin Williams best selling paints, and for a good reason! It’s absolutely gorgeous and versatile.

White Dove by Benjamin Moore

White Dove is the perfect white for folks who are looking for something warm and creamy that tends to lean more off-white. It has a depth to it that makes it feel extra warm and cozy. I love this on mill work, trim work, cabinetry, and walls. This color is a great color to pair with other warm colors as well (like Farrow & Ball Setting Plaster we used in our guest bedroom!)

Snowbound by Sherwin Williams

This is a brighter, cleaner white that still leans a little warm. It’s fantastic on walls as well as cabinetry and trim. Emily Netz used it in her last home and you can explore more of this airy goodness here. Compared to Alabster (as listed above) it will be brighter and a touch cooler, but still warmer when compared with a true white.

Swiss Coffee by Behr

Swiss Coffee by Behr is a great warm, neutral white that can be found at your local Home Depot. It is neutral and bright without any hint of sterility. ISpyDIY used it all over her barn house and she gives a full tour of its beauty here.
