Tiny Bits Of Holiday: Holiday that Sparks Joy
The Holidays are in full force! Let’s focus on the little things that can bring us joy.
The holidays are here and it’s time to add little sprinkles of festive cheer this season. Little snippets of greenery, balsam scents, and sprinkles of festive red have found their way into our home. Gift guides and gift ideas are floating all over and I’m a big believer in gifts that spark joy, bring joy, or make life a little bit better. Sometimes they are things we may have difficulty buying ourselves (like matching pajamas or the reusable coffee cup that will actually keep that coffee hot). Sometimes they are gifts that are little things that can add joy in the future to every day life like inspirational prints, artwork, or books.
the holidays have officially arrived
This is a little tour of our holiday joy I’ve sprinkled around our home and the joyful little things that will round out my Tiny Bits joyful gift guide. I believe the home should be decorated for the holidays in a way that sparks joy. This is different for each individual. Maybe you’re a gal who likes a Charlie Brown tree and sprinkles of real garland. Maybe you love the color red and want touches of the holidays all over your home. This year I decided I really love creams, greens, and touches of red, but not too much.
We travel almost every year for the holidays, so that means our decor is simple, festive and nothing over the top because we unpack and pack it up almost a month later. My go-to for easy decor always includes:
Garland (real or faux. Trader Joes is a great place to find affordable real garland)
Garland on the mantle
Over the doorway
Staircase Railing
TV Credenza
The dining room table
Wreaths (One for the front door and basically anywhere else. Over a mirror, painting, windows, etc.)
Branches and cuttings.
Eucalyptus
Pine or Other Evergreen Varieties
Magnolia Leaves (Real or Faux)
Stockings
Little Trees
Bells or ornaments in little dishes
There are small gifts, or objects, or things that bring a little extra joy to life. Some are prints, some are cozy layers, some are objects that make good habits a little easier, and some are just plain pretty. Below are items I live and swear by and others are objects on my wishlist. I’ve included my favorite water bottle and I did serious research before purchasing it. It fits in a cupholder, it holds 24 ounces, and it keeps liquids hot or cold. The straw cap allows for quick and easy drinking. I’ve included my favorite go-to tumbler, Stojo, it’s collapsable feature lets it store in my purse quite easily. I’ve included my favorite camp socks that I own multiple pairs of and my tried and true knitted hat.
So I hope these favorites and wish list items help spark a little joy and inspiration for your holiday shopping. And most importantly, make sure you do things and seek out things that spark joy in your life. The holidays can get stressful or busy or possibly even chaotic, but seeking out joyful activities and items can help keep it all a little more balanced
